How to Adopt

At OCHS, we strive to assist adopters with every aspect of pet ownership. All of our animals come to you spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines, and microchipped. Our friendly, knowledgeable adoption counselors tell you all about your new pet and answer any questions you might have about caring for your pet. If there’s an animal you’re interested in adopting, please download and complete an Adoption Application, or come in to the shelter to complete one. Each application is reviewed by an adoption counselor who will coach you on your new pet’s needs and if need be, teach you the basic responsibilities of pet ownership. Since some of our animals are in foster homes or may be out of the shelter for the day, please call ahead at 541-997-4277 to ensure the animal is available for your visit. If there are any other dogs living in the home, a meet and greet is recommended, but not required (in most cases).

  • Submitting an application for an animal is not a guarantee of placement.
  • Adopters must be at least 18 years old and provide a photo ID.
  • If you rent your home, please confirm that your landlord will allow you to have the pet you would like to adopt.
