Gifts of Stock

A donation of stock or other appreciated securities can offer significant tax savings while making a big difference for pets who need our care. Just contact OCHS to obtain our transfer information for your broker and transfer the shares directly. You’ll receive a tax deduction for the average market value on the day your shares land in our account, and you’ll avoid capital gains tax you’d have to pay if you sold the stock. Retirement Accounts

When you reach age 70 ½ or better, you can roll over a gift from your IRA to help the animals without it counting as taxable income. If you don’t itemize your deductions, this can be a great way to maximize your giving while benefitting the animals.

Donor Advised Funds

Consider working with Western Lane Community Foundation or other agency to create a donor advised fund that supports OCHS. You get professional management of your charitable dollars while ensuring that pets at OCHS are given the loving care they need. Whether you advise an annual gift or establish a designated fund to help OCHS, your contributions make a world of difference.
